Ranchos
Costa Alegre, Mexico
Concept for a family compound house in Costa Alegre, Mexico. Wooden pergolas, tejamanil roofs, clay breaze blocks, thatch palapas, chukum and lime walls, lava tiles and petates, textured and pigmented concrete floors are interwoven together with the wooden decks, pathways and gardens. The garden’s natural patterns reflect the spirit of the land and its autochthonous species. We played between shaded and sunny areas, with different heights, textures, and purposes. A garden that is supposed to be threaded by time and by the lives of their habitants. All is soil, clay, wood, natural fibers, shadows and light.
