Praça Hub Beato

Lisbon

Praça – Creative Hub Beato, located in Beato, Lisbon, is an interior design project focused on the recovery and rehabilitation of historic military buildings. Led by Rubina André, the project aims to transform the space into a restaurant and cultural venue with an industrial character.
The design concept embraces the building’s original features, incorporating salvaged objects and furniture. The style is characterized by simple decoration, highlighting the building’s structure with visible elements like facing bricks, while balancing it with greenery. The layout comprises two buildings, offering multifunctional spaces, a bakery, wine store, delicatessen, and various dining areas. The area’s urban landscape, defined by large military and industrial buildings, serves as inspiration for the project. The design approach focuses on preserving the site’s character and heritage.
Andringa Studio’s signature style, rooted in tradition, is evident in the project. Custom lighting, incorporating salvaged parts, contributes to the overall ambiance. Bespoke furniture pieces, repurposed from various objects, add creativity and resourcefulness. The materials used include stone, wood, ceramics, and iron, reflecting the building’s historical context. The location influenced the design, capturing the essence of Beato’s architectural legacy. Adapting the existing space was a challenge, requiring alterations to accommodate the desired vision. The project’s main objective was to give new life to existing pieces and create a vibrant space that seamlessly blends history with contemporary design.
